September 2016 through May 2017: Cow Parade SLO
Over 75 cities and 200 million people worldwide have participated in CowParade, one of the most successful art endeavors ever. Now it’s San Luis Obispo County’s turn.
CowParade SLO County will give local artists a chance to showcase their talents on a global stage. The region’s agricultural history, growing arts scene and its ecotourism draw make CowParade the perfect conduit for a countywide event that will involve, unite and benefit the whole community.

January 9: 14th Annual Black & White Ball
TBD: 10th Annual Model Railroad Day
Local train buffs, modelers, historians and kids of all ages are encouraged to attend this year's Model Railroad Day celebration. This popular free community event will run from 10 am - 4 pm at the historic Oceano Depot. The San Luis Obispo Model Railroad Association (SLOMRA) will display a wide variety of operating model trains and the entire Depot will be open to display its unique artifacts from Oceano and the adjacent railroad. Daily: Monarch Butterfly Grove Talks
Thousands of beautiful orange and black Monarch Butterflies can be seen clustering in the Eucalyptus and Cypress trees at the Pismo State Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove every winter. From November-February the grove is staffed daily by our knowledgeable docents from 10 am - 4 pm, with talks given at 11 am and 2 pm. Located on Highway 1 just south of the Pismo State Beach North Beach Campground the grove offers FREE admission and FREE parking. Don't miss this spectacular wonder of nature.
